Małgorzata Bogucka-Szymalska

Deputy Director, Department of Water Management and Inland Navigation

Holds a Ph.D Eng. in Earth Sciences, specialising in hydrology. Graduated from two faculties: the Faculty of Construction and Environmental Engineering at the Bialystok University of Technology and the Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies at the University of Warsaw. Completed numerous trainings and courses, including training in programme management - MSP, project management - PRINCE2, risk management - MoR. In 2015 participated in the Erasmus programme for national civil servants conducted by the European School of Administration in Brussels.
Has 16 years of professional experience, including 10 years in water management. From 2004 to 2011 she was a geography teacher and examiner for the baccalaureate exam in geography. Since 2011 she has been working in public administration, including the Department of Security and Crisis Management at the Mazovian Voivodeship Office (2011-2013) and the Department of Water Resources at the Ministry of Environment (2014-2018). In her career to date, she has held several independent or managerial positions. Since 2018, Deputy Director in the Department of Water Management and Inland Navigation. 
Previous experience is mainly related to the implementation of several water directives, including in particular the Water Framework Directive and the Flood Directive, the Marine Directive, the Wastewater Directive, the Nitrates Directive and  the Drinking Water Directive.
