Piotr Mazurek graduated from the Institute of Political Science, University of Warsaw, majoring in political science with a specialisation in public life animation (BA) and public administration (MA in political science). For 10 years, he has been actively involved in the activities of non-governmental organisations, mainly of a youth profile. Co-organised, among others, many editions of the Warsaw March of the Pilecki Rotmistrz and the Youth Organisations Forum "Together for the Future". In 2011, he was a co-founder of the Social Committee for the Celebration of the National Day of Remembrance of "Wyklętych Soldiers". From 2012 to 2013, he cooperated with the Independent Media Congress. From April 2011 to November 2013, he coordinated the "Thursday Meetings" project at the Republican Foundation. From 2011 to 2015 he held the position of vice-president of the KoLiber Association's Main Board. In 2012 he became a columnist for the monthly magazine "Na Poważnie", and since April 2013 he has been a regular contributor to the monthly "wSieci Historii". He has also collaborated with the weekly magazine "ABC" and the wpolityce.pl and blogpress.pl portals, among others. In March 2015, he was accepted into the ranks of the Association of Polish Journalists.

He was a co-author of the programme "Vision for the Young Generation" adopted in May 2015 by Andrzej Duda, candidate for the office of the President of the Republic of Poland, as his official programme for young Poles. He has participated as a speaker at numerous conferences including the Congress "Poland the Great Project" and two Law and Justice Programme Congresses "Thinking Poland" (2015 and 2019). Since November 2015, he has worked in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. He has served as: political assistant, advisor and Head of the Political Cabinet of the Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Gliński. In February 2016, the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda appointed him to the National Development Council. Within it, he joined the sections "Education, Young Generation, Sport" and "Culture, Historical Policy, National Identity". In 2017, IPN President Jarosław Szarek appointed him to the Committee for the Protection of Remembrance of Struggles and Martyrdom. In 2018, he became a member of the Council of the National Freedom Institute - Centre for Civil Society Development. He also became a member of the Steering and Monitoring Committees of three government programmes supporting the third sector: the Civic Initiatives Fund, the Civic Organisations Development Programme and the Government Programme for the Development of Scouting and Scouting Organisations (as chairman).

He is a member of the Law and Justice party. In the 2018 local elections, he was elected a councillor of the Warsaw City Council. In the Council, he became vice-chairman of the Culture Committee and a member of the Education and Naming Committee. He was a co-author of the bill establishing the Council for Dialogue with the Young Generation. In October 2019, he became a member of this body and was subsequently elected its co-chair (from the government and local government side). In September 2020, he became a member of the Council of the Museum of "Soldiers Wyklętych" and Political Prisoners of the People's Republic of Poland in Warsaw.

On 23 September 2020, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki appointed him to the offices of Undersecretary of State at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and Government Plenipotentiary for Youth Policy. On 16 November 2020, he was appointed to the offices of Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Public Benefit and Secretary of State at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and again to the office of Government Plenipotentiary for Youth Policy. In November, he also became a member of the Council for Public Benefit Activities. In February 2021, he was appointed Chairman of the second term of the Council of the National Freedom Institute - Centre for Civil Society Development.
