Nature and environmental protection

Forests, meadows, fields. Forests and wetlands. All of them are complex, diverse ecosystems that are home to thousands of species of plants and animals. Their role cannot be overestimated, not only for the world of fauna and flora. It also affects us directly. Natural green spaces stabilize the climate by removing excess carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. They store water, mitigating the effects of extreme weather phenomena: downpours, droughts, floods. At the same time, the same areas, without which life on earth would not have had a chance to develop, are now under threat. Too often, these ecosystems fall victim to mindless human interference. They are cut, contaminated, poured with concrete. Too often, the vision of a quick profit conceals the losses we will suffer in the future if we keep the planet's deadly pace. That is why today, more than ever, we must protect what is most valuable. And to care for the fate of nature, of which we are a part.

A forest is much more than a plantation

A plantation is an area filled with co-eval, monospecific cultivation all the way to the horizon, almost devoid of other plants, a true ecological desert. Calling commercial forest plantations is a simple misuse of the term.

There will be no desert

Due to climate change, pine, spruce, larch, and birch will disappear from our landscape. These trees form 75% of the surface of our forests. Hundreds of species of plants, mushrooms, and animals will disappear with them.

We are close to ... our suppliers

Shortening the supply chain and emphasis on local production are benefits not only for business but also for the environment. By choosing domestic products rather than those imported from the other side of the world, we reduce the carbon footprint of long-distance transportation. And that's not the only plus. This solution is also used by the local community and smaller businesses.

The fever. Alarm in the Lower Silesian forests.

There had been no solid precipitation for a few years, and springs and summers have been hotter than average. Parched by the sun, weakened by lack of water, the trees easily fall prey to a whole plethora of pests.

Problems and threats related to soil degradation and devastation in Poland

Currently, agricultural land covers approximately 19 million hectares, which is 61% of the territory of Poland1. The growing consumption and the increasing demand for plant-based products result in increased expectations related to the size of the obtained crops. For this reason, the area of arable land is gradually increasing year by year2. In addition, the most effective methods to obtain the highest possible yield with the use of various types of fertilizers, which would affect the quality of the obtained products and increase the efficiency of agricultural production, are being looked for. This leads to an annual increase in the use of conventional fertilizers, which affect the higher yields obtained.

Environmentally friendly roads

The construction of new roads, as well as the reconstruction of existing ones, are carried out in accordance with the previously obtained environmental decisions, so that they have the minimum impact on the environment.  Behind this very general statement, one can find much more interesting actions. However, the General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways does not just comply with environmental decisions, but is also looking for other ways to reduce the environmental impact of roads.

Greenery and its impact on human health and recreation

The fact that healthy, lush greenery is a factor that exerts a relaxing, soothing and therapeutic effect on the human body, both physically and mentally, has long been known. Already throughout the 19th century, greenery was consciously incorporated into the urban structure of cities (e.g. city squares, parks, public gardens, children's playgrounds, or numerous spa parks in health resorts), intensifying such activities in the 20th century (restoration of natural resources after World War I and II, establishment of new multi-purpose parks and theme gardens) . This positive role of greenery is now of particular importance, e.g. in mitigating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, which, apart from the pathogenic impact of the virus itself, has had devastating consequences for the quality of life of a significant portion of the human population, exacerbating the already existing mental health problems and general health condition.
